Door wedge, made to measure

Measure the gap between the bottom of your door and the floor, and we will cut a wedge whose thin tip slides into that gap and whose slope rises past it, so the door meets the slope a little way in from the tip. It prints lying on its base with no supports.

What you need before you start

What it will take

  • Gap under the door: 3–40 mm
  • Rise above the gap: 2–20 mm
  • Wedge length: 50–200 mm
  • Wedge width: 15–80 mm
  • Nozzle size: 4 to choose from
  • Filament: 4 to choose from

As it comes

Thick end, tall16 mm
Door meets the slope, in from the tip49 mm
Stays in front of the door51 mm
Filament, at most (printed solid)45 g

Build plate: 100 mm as it comes, never more than 256 mm.

What you need to hand

  • A ruler or a calliper for the gap between the floor and the bottom of your door, where the wedge will go.
  • Your nozzle size and the filament you will print it in.
Your door

With the door where you want it held, measure from the floor up to its bottom edge, at the spot where the wedge will go.

The wedge

How far the thick end rises past the gap, and how long and wide the wedge is.

mm
How much taller than the gap the thick end of the wedge is. More rise means the door meets the slope sooner.

How wide the wedge is, across the slope.
The printer it will come off

Set these to the nozzle you will print with and the filament you will use; what is filled in is only our usual setting. The nozzle decides whether the tip comes out the thickness we drew. The filament does not change the model: it only sets the weight estimate.
