Thermometer holder for the glass, made to measure

Measure your glass and your thermometer, choose how far down the inside of the tank you want it to sit, and we will cut a holder for that tank and that thermometer. It slides over the top edge of the glass; the thermometer drops into an upright channel from the top and comes to rest on a narrower seat at the bottom, with a slot down the front to see it through. It prints upside down, with no supports.

What you need to hand

  • A calliper for the glass, near the top edge where the holder will go.
  • A calliper across your thermometer, or the probe of a digital one, where it is widest.
  • How far down the inside of the glass you want the thermometer to sit.
  • Your nozzle size and the filament you will print it in.
Your tank

Measure the glass near the top edge where the holder will go, and choose how far down the inside the thermometer should sit.

mm
How far below the top edge of the glass the seat at the bottom of the channel is — where the end of the thermometer comes to rest.
Your thermometer

Across the thermometer where it is widest over the part that goes into the holder — for a digital one, the probe.

Across the thermometer with a calliper, where it is widest over the part that goes into the holder — for a digital one, across the probe. The channel is sized from this, and the seat at the bottom is narrower.
The printer it will come off

Set these to the nozzle you will print with and the filament you will use; what is filled in is only our usual setting, not necessarily yours. The nozzle decides whether the walls come out at least two lines thick. The filament does not change the model: it sets the weight estimate and flags PLA, which is for a dry fit only.
